That's what gives it that sun-kissed softness — and it's also why the toner is the first thing to shift. Chlorine, hard water, heat styling and UV all speed that up, especially through a Melbourne summer.

Your at-home routine, in five steps

• Wash less. Two to three times a week is plenty — over-washing strips the toner.
• Use a sulphate-free shampoo formulated for coloured or blonde hair.
• Add a purple or silver toning shampoo once every 7–10 days to neutralise warmth.
• Deep condition weekly. A bond treatment like K18 keeps lightened hair strong.
• Heat protect every single time before styling — no exceptions.

For most balayage clients we recommend a toner refresh every 8–10 weeks and a full balayage top-up every 4–6 months. If your ends are feeling dry, pair it with a K18 bond treatment on the day.
